3/22/2013 - Car In To Pole: |
Slippery road conditions caused this accident on Route 124 at Sequattom Road Friday around 7:30AM. The Mercury sedan smashed into a NStar pole causing a small fire at the base. The driver of the vehicle was unhurt. Route 124 was closed for approximately two hours between Long Pond Drive and the Brewster line. Power in the area was knocked out for a short time. 3/5/2013 - MED FLIGHT: |
Around 11am Tuesday a female driver lost control of her Mazda Miata convertible and wrapped it around a tree at 173 Route 28. The woman was trapped in the vehicle for a short time until Harwich Fire and Recue was able to remove her. She was taken from the scene to Barnstable Airport where a Med-Flight helicopter flew her to a Boston hospital. Harwich Police shut down Route 28 for approximately 45 minutes until the scene was cleared. At the time of the accident the roads were wet from a snow rain mixture. Photos by Jake O'Callaghan

1/29/2013 - ROLL OVER: |
A SUV that left Bay Road, went down an embankment and landed on it's side. The female driver who was trapped for a short time was kept calm by off duty firefighter Captain David LeBlanc until Harwich Police and Harwich Rescue arrived on scene to pull her to safety. She was transferred to Cape Cod Hospital with unknown injuries. Bay Road was closed between Church Street and Route 28 for about one hour until the scene was cleared. Photos by Jake O'Callaghan

1/29/2013 - SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT: |
Weather was a factor in this car vs school bus accident in front of 105 Azalea Drive. The crash happened around 7AM when the maroon sedan was unable to avoid the bus hitting it head-on. The driver of the car was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with unknown injuries by the Harwich Fire and Rescue. No charges are being filed by the Harwich Police. 1/28/2013 - HOUSE FIRE: |
Fire tore through a house in Harwich Monday afternoon. A school bus driver dropping off kids in the neighborhood spotted the flames and called in. Crews arrived at 32 Lakeway Lane shortly before 2:30 p.m. to find heavy fire on the first floor. The first arriving company was able to quickly knock the fire down. All occupants were reported out of the house but sadly, two dogs perished in the blaze.Mutual aid units from Brewster, Dennis, Chatham and Orleans assisted at the scene.The cause of the fire is under investigation but does not appear suspicious. photos by Kevin Morley/CWN
